<lj:music>Michael Jackson - Human Nature</lj:music>

Okay, I liked how it started out. It was very nice of Smokey to come out and read the letters from Diana Ross and Nelson Mandella. I liked the performance of Mariah Carey with Trey Lorenz. I didn't like the performance of Jennifer Hudson. But as a person appearing at a funeral for a man she probably doesn't really know and never thought of as her "inspiration" I don't see why she had to be there, or why she had to sing. I didn't appreciate it.

John Mayer's performance was outstanding. I'm thrilled he didn't try to sing. Not because he's a bad singer (which he's not) but because it was a bigger respect to Michael to leave his part of that wonderful song up to him and not someone else. I liked Brooke Shields' speech. I liked Queen Latifah's as well as the inclusion from Maya Angelou. I'm not too big on Rev. Al Sharpton, or the King's (Martin Luther King III, etc.) Barry Gordy was alright too.

I liked Jermaine Jackson's version of Smile, and I appreciated the performance of Usher. Especially Usher so far. Stevie Wonder and Lionel Ritchie were, to me, unmemorable performances in the memorial service. Smokey Robinson's speech is very lovely. Magic Johnson and Kobe were okay too - incase I almost forgot them. Erving was more believeable though. His quirky joke about the KFC was wonderful. I didn't like the mayor(?) from Texas. She was kind of a drag on words and why must they acknowledge Michael and give him all this recognition now that he's gone and not while he was still here?

I liked the kid from Britain's got talent, and I liked the words of Kenny Ortega. The finallity of the concert/memorial with "We Are The World" was rather nice. It was good to see his children up there too. All the Michaels. Another great moment in his life although with all of his songs I would've hoped for something off of his invincible album. Because he made such beautiful songs off of that album. Although none quite as suiting as some of the songs they choose.

Well, guess that's that. Back to reality folks...
R.I.P. Michael Joseph Jackson 1958-2009
Forever young, forever loved, and forever the king of pop.
He truly 'rocked our world....'
